"Windsor"

Bronze Sculpture

This sculpture of Windsor Ford was commissioned by his wife, June, after he had passed away.  I had to rely on photographs of him, and thankfully, she had plenty of photos for me to work with. From information supplied by June, and his many friends, I was able to create a portrait of a man that I never knew.

The true test was when Windsors best friend of many, many years, Fritz, came into my studio, saw the sculpture, and started to caress it and cry. It was then that I knew I had captured his character. It was the best compliment to my work that I could ever ask for.

. Windsor was cremated, and his ashes were put in a vault, on the grounds of a bird hunting preserve that both he and his wife had owned. Mrs.Ford wanted the bronze to be put there as a memorial to her late husband.

He loved his wire-haired pointers, and would often just take walks with them on the preserve.  That is how he is depicted here, which is what June wanted.

When she moved away to another state, we mounted the bronze on a mahogany base, and she took it with her to put in her new home.
